In 1943 Irene Kotas, who we lovingly call babcia (Grandma) was born and raised in the mountainous region of south east Poland, where pierogies were a staple food that graced the tables of families. In 1944 Babcia emigrated to Canada to help raise her two grandchildren.
In 2015, Babcia and Jacek (the husband of Babcia’s daughter) open their first restaurant - Pierogi House - where you would always have food that was made from scratch, made by hand, just like back home in Poland. Most importantly, the pierogies had to be “done right”, meaning the taste and quality were babcia approved.
This is how the authentic pierogies made their way from Poland to our table in Kitchener, Ontario, and now to yours!

I've got to stop ordering food that's so good and full of calories lol. My problem is that having 4 or 5 pierogi isn't enough. I absolutely loved these, I boil them and have a small bowl of Hewitt's sour cream with chopped green onion to dip the pierogis in. I don't finish them with a pan fry - they're tasty enough just being boiled. I'm definitely buying these again.
